Delete Your Data on Pause

Pause. Spoiler-free conversations about movies and TV.

You can delete specific pieces of your data in Pause at any time without having to delete your entire account. This page explains what you can delete, how to do it, and what is retained.

Option 1: Delete data in the app

Delete a comment

1. Open the Pause app and navigate to the comment.
2. Tap and hold (or tap the menu) on your comment.
3. Choose Delete and confirm.

Delete a direct message conversation

1. Open the Messages tab.
2. Swipe left on the conversation (or open it and tap the menu).
3. Choose Delete conversation and confirm. All messages in that conversation are deleted for your account.

Remove a liked show or movie

1. Go to your Profile → Liked.
2. Tap the heart again on any item to remove it from your liked list.

Unfollow a user

1. Open the user's profile.
2. Tap Following to unfollow them. This removes the follow relationship from your data.

Remove a profile photo or update your profile

1. Go to Profile → Edit Profile.
2. Tap the photo to change or remove it. You can also clear your display name or bio from the same screen.

Remove a watch status

1. Go to the show or movie page.
2. Tap your watch status and choose Remove.

Option 2: Request data deletion by email

If you would like us to delete specific data for you (for example, all of your comments on a particular show, or all direct messages older than a certain date), email us from the address associated with your account:

• To: support@justhitpause.app
• Subject: Delete my data
• Include your Pause username and a clear description of what you want deleted.

We will process email requests within 30 days.

What can be deleted without deleting your account

• Individual comments and replies you posted
• Direct message conversations you participated in
• Likes on comments, shows, and movies
• Follow and follower relationships
• Profile photo, display name, and bio
• Watch status entries (watching, finished, etc.)
• Blocked user entries

What is retained

• Your account itself (email, username, authentication) stays active until you choose to delete the account.
• Reports you filed or that were filed against you: retained in anonymized form for up to 90 days for abuse prevention.
• Encrypted backups: deleted items may remain in routine database backups for up to 30 days before being fully purged.
• Authentication logs: retained by our authentication provider (Supabase) according to their standard retention policy.
