TL;DR

We collect the bare minimum to make Pause work. We don't sell your data. Your DMs are encrypted. We're not here to be creepy.

1. What we collect

• Your email and username (to create your account)
• Your profile picture (if you add one)
• Your language preference
• Your comments and replies (so other users can see them)
• Your liked shows (to show your favorites)
• Your followers and who you follow (visible on your profile)
• Your date of birth (to verify you're 13+, never shown publicly)
• Reports you submit (to keep the community safe)
• Basic usage data (like crash reports so we can fix bugs)

2. What we DON'T collect

• Your location. We don't need it and don't want it.
• Your contacts. Your phone book is your business.
• Your browsing history. What you do outside Pause is not our concern.
• Your DM contents. They're end-to-end encrypted, so we couldn't read them even if we tried.

3. How we use your data

Literally just to make the app work. Your email is for login and password resets. Your username shows up on your comments. That's it. No secret data mining, no selling your info.

4. End-to-end encrypted DMs

Your DMs are encrypted on your device before they ever reach our servers. We store encrypted gibberish, and only you and the person you're chatting with can read the messages.

5. Data storage

Your data is stored on secure servers provided by Supabase. We use industry-standard security practices.

6. Third-party services

• TMDB: we pull show and movie info from them. They don't get your data.
• Tenor: for GIFs in the chat. They see GIF searches but not who's searching.
• Supabase: our database and auth provider.

7. Deleting your data

Go to Settings and hit Delete Account. Everything gets permanently deleted, including your profile, comments, and likes.

8. Reporting and moderation

When you report someone, we store who you reported, the reason, and any details. This is only visible to our moderation team. We don't share your reports with the person you reported.

9. Cookies

This is a mobile app, not a website. We don't use cookies.

10. Kids

Pause is for users 13 and older. We don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 13.

11. Changes

If we update this policy, we'll notify you in the app.
